The Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell has arrested another accused in the high-profile firing incident outside Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, Mumbai. The latest arrest identifies Asaram Fasle (42) from Pune as the person who supplied the weapon used in the attack. He has been taken into custody along with four other suspects already held by police.
What Happened in the Case
- On January 31, 2026, unidentified individuals fired several rounds outside Shetty’s home, though thankfully no one was injured.
- Police have linked the case to alleged criminal networks and are investigating potential gang involvement, with Shubham Lonkar, an associate linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, identified by Mumbai police as playing a key role. Lonkar is currently absconding and wanted in this case.
- So far, five suspects have been arrested and are due to be produced in an Esplanade Court (Killa Court) in Mumbai, where police have sought extended custody to further the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
- The main person who actually fired the shots is still at large.
- Police have found evidence showing the suspects communicated via encrypted messaging to coordinate the incident and then deleted messages to destroy evidence.
- Investigators are also probing the broader modus operandi and possible links with organised crime networks to establish motive and backers.
This case has drawn widespread attention due to the involvement of a major Bollywood figure and the serious nature of the allegations, with law enforcement continuing deep investigations to arrest the main shooter and uncover the full conspiracy.
