The Malad Police in Mumbai have arrested a 30-year-old school peon in connection with an alleged sexual misconduct incident involving a five-year-old girl near a school on SV Road in Malad West. The accused was taken into custody from his residence on Friday after a formal complaint was filed with police.
According to the child’s mother’s complaint, the accused is alleged to have threatened her daughter and made inappropriate physical contact. She has claimed that the incident was brought to the school administration’s attention earlier, but no action was taken at the time — prompting her to approach the police directly.
In response to the complaint, the Malad Police have also registered a case against the school’s 65-year-old chief executive officer (CEO) for failing to take timely action. Senior officers say they have visited the school to collect evidence and the investigation is ongoing to determine how the events unfolded and fix accountability.
The case is being treated seriously given the age of the victim and the involvement of school personnel, with police examining all available evidence and witness accounts as part of the inquiry
