A routine commute through Mumbai’s busy Link Road ended in tragedy when a heated argument between a biker and a cab driver spiralled into a fatal assault in Malad.
According to police, the incident unfolded between 10 am and 11 am as the two men were travelling from Malwani toward Andheri. The dispute reportedly began near Mith Chowky junction when both drivers got into a verbal altercation while on the road. The argument continued as they drove along the route, escalating with each passing moment.
The confrontation reached a breaking point near Infiniti Mall in Malad, under the Oswal Metro station area, where the two stopped their vehicles and engaged in a physical fight. Witnesses told police that during the clash, the biker allegedly struck the cab’s window with his helmet, damaging the glass.
Investigators say the cab driver retaliated by attacking the biker with a pointed object believed to be a key. The sharp object reportedly pierced the victim’s chest and the back of his neck, causing severe injuries. Passersby and police personnel rushed the injured man to a nearby private hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The victim, who worked at a digital marketing firm near Mindspace in Malad, was identified as Sharik Ansari. Police from Bangur Nagar Police Station quickly detained the cab driver along with another person who was inside the car at the time of the incident, reportedly a mechanic.
Officials confirmed that a murder case has been registered against the accused. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from locations including Mith Chowky and Kanchpada to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal attack. Forensic teams have also collected evidence from the spot as part of the investigation.
The shocking incident highlights how minor road disputes can escalate dangerously, turning everyday traffic arguments into deadly confrontations within minutes.
