Kartik Karkera Tops Indian Elite Men’s Field at Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026

At the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2026, Indian long-distance runner Kartik Karkera emerged as the fastest Indian in the Indian Elite Men’s category, clocking 2:19:55 to finish ahead of his domestic rivals and deliver a standout performance among the national contingent.

Karkera was followed by fellow Indian Anish Magar, who took second place with a time of 2:20:08, highlighting the rising standard of Indian marathon running. The race overall saw East African athletes dominate the international elite field, with Ethiopia’s Tadu Abate Deme winning the men’s elite race and Yeshi Kalayu Chekole taking the women’s title in the international category.

Thousands of runners participated in the event across various categories, reflecting the Tata Mumbai Marathon’s status as one of India’s premier mass-participation sporting events. The marathon continues to draw elite international talent alongside growing domestic competition, showcasing the depth and enthusiasm for distance running in the country.
