Minor Bargaining Dispute in Kurla Turns Violent Customer Hurt in Knife Attack

A routine trip to buy vegetables in Mumbai’s Kurla area turned alarming when a disagreement over the price of coriander escalated into violence. The trouble began when a vegetable vendor and a customer disagreed about how much to pay for a bunch of coriander leaves.

According to police, the vendor — identified as Srinivas Kamble — had quoted ₹20 for the coriander. The customer offered only ₹10, saying he knew local market rates as he lived nearby. The argument soon grew heated right at the stall, and tensions spiked between the two.

Eyewitnesses say the disagreement quickly crossed the line from words to physical confrontation. In a sudden turn, the vendor is accused of pulling out a knife and injuring the customer, striking him on the head. Passers-by rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was given treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police from the V.B. Nagar station reached the scene, recorded the victim’s statement and registered a case under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Officers say they are actively searching for the accused, who fled after the attack.

Local residents are shocked by how quickly a seemingly trivial issue — a small difference in price — became a serious violent act, highlighting broader concerns about rising tempers and disputes in crowded market spaces.
