In a peculiar crime case in Mumbai, a habitual offender allegedly adapted a famous Bollywood dialogue from the film Jatt — specifically the punchline “Sorry bol” — as part of his gold chain snatching technique. The suspect used the line to distract pedestrians and provoke confrontations, creating moments of confusion that allowed him to grab their jewellery and flee into crowded areas.
According to police reports, the accused — identified as 36-year-old Sadik Mohammed Akhtar Khan from Bhiwandi — approached random people on busy streets, bumped into them deliberately, and repeatedly demanded an apology, citing the dialogue. While victims were engaged in the staged argument, he seized their gold chains and vanished.
Officers from the Kasturba Marg police station eventually arrested the suspect, who has a long criminal history with more than 25 cases registered against him in Mumbai and Thane, including past chain-snatching and theft offences. Police are now investigating whether he used the same modus operandi in other incidents and are trying to recover additional stolen property linked to him.
