The investigation into the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence continues to deepen, with Mumbai Police tightening its grip on what appears to be a well-coordinated criminal network.
In the latest development, the police have arrested the eighth accused in the case, marking another step forward in unravelling the conspiracy behind the February 1 shooting incident in Juhu. The arrest highlights how the probe is steadily moving beyond the initial perpetrators to uncover a broader chain of individuals involved in planning and facilitating the attack.
The incident, in which multiple rounds were fired outside the filmmaker’s home, did not result in any injuries but raised serious concerns about organised crime activity targeting high-profile individuals.
Investigators believe that the accused were part of a coordinated effort, with different roles ranging from logistics to execution. Earlier findings suggest that the attack may have been orchestrated to create fear and assert dominance, rather than cause direct harm.
With each arrest, authorities are piecing together how the network operated across states, using technology and local contacts to carry out the plan while attempting to evade detection. The case has also drawn attention to the growing complexity of organised crime, where smaller operatives are often recruited and directed remotely.
Mumbai Police officials have indicated that further arrests are likely as the investigation continues, with a focus on identifying the masterminds and dismantling the larger network behind the attack.
